Pvt. Taylor Pulls Rank

Private Nead was disliked by members of his basic training platoon.

His lackadaisical attitude infuriated drill instructors and the entire platoon was forced to do “drop and knock-out fifty” on a regular basis for his constant mistakes.

Members of Third Platoon, Delta Company plotted their revenge. Although mothers sent many “care packages” to the basic training cadets, the G.I.s were not permitted to eat any type of sweets during the first four weeks of the eight week training course nor were they permitted to purchase sweets while shopping at the post exchange.

Private Taylor picked up some chocolate flavored Ex-Lax during a trip the platoon made to the PX.

One evening while spit shinning boots with members of the platoon, Private Taylor pretended he illegally purchased a few Hershey Bars from the PX.

Taylor carefully scraped the lettering off the chocolate flavored Ex-Lax bars and flashed shinny paper at Pvt. Nead, sitting next to him in boot shinning formation.

Pvt. Nead took the bait. The next day, while running in platoon formation, Pvt. Nead soiled his grey, Army issued physical training shorts.

Private Taylor was elected as the new platoon leader for his unsurpassed leadership traits.
