Speed Dating
It was a cold dark January night when Private Taylor nearly wrecked his Audi on the Autobahn.
The gas pedal didn’t come up as he lifted his foot, halfway down the exit ramp leading to the town of his new duty station, Hanau, West Germany.
It was 4 a.m. and physical training formation was an hour away. The shock of a near accident awoke him and he quickly pushed in the clutch and put the car in neutral.
Although it roared like an alley cat in heat, the car’s speed diminished. Eventually the gas pedal came back up and the car’s functioning returned to normal.
Exhausted, Taylor pressed the gas pedal down again and continued the drive back home to the Barracks without incident.
Weekends with his lover, who was still stationed in Ansbach, West Germany, were not enough for the in-love undercover Army homosexual.
He sometimes drove three hours each way just to make-out with SPC Anthony Johnson on week nights.
The long trip was wearing on him and his German engineered vehicle. As he parked his car safely outside the barracks, he decided that the long distance love affair was a little too much.
He was re-considering his commitment to SPC Johnson. “Did monogamy between two guys really matter anyway?” thought the young nineteen year old as he got dressed each morning in a battle dress uniform and spit shined boots.
“There are far too many opportunities in the military for and undercover homosexual, why limit oneself to one Specialist Four?” Taylor thought while reaching under the gas pedal to see what could have caused the car’s accelerator not to respond properly.
One of his dildos fell out of the cubby hole in the Audi and nearly cost the Army one good man.
Taylor thanked God for his blessings and headed off to get dressed for physical training and an eight hour day of repairing radios.
Private Taylor learned to love the make-believe world of Army rank and file, where late nights on the town, drinking German beer with those in his Battalion, showed him a world that no party boy in Chelsea, New York ever dreamed of.
He planned to give SPC Johnson his walking papers and make the Army a career.
